I dabble in poetry from time to time. I’ve even had a few pieces published in places like McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Missouri Review, The Harvard Review (that last one sounds more impressive than it is, trust me) and a handful of other places. That said, the likelihood of getting an actual book of poetry published is somewhere in the vicinity of the likelihood that I’ll win the next American Idol. So I thought I’d give these riffs and grooves a little room to live on my blog, because dammit, it’s my blog and I can publish what I want.
Some of them are humorous, some are poignant, and some are humorously poignant. Some may even be considered wry. I myself am not entirely sure what a couple of them are about. I hope they’re good for a bit of a diversion now and again. We can all use that these days.
So, you’ll allow me, I offer part of my short poetry collection, called Rain Like Vesuvius. Clicking the link below opens it in your browser. You can also feel free to download it.
